Jaipur, the capital of India’s Rajasthan state, evokes the royal family that once ruled the region and that, in 1727, founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink City” for its trademark building colour. At the centre of its stately street grid (notable in India) stands the opulent, colonnaded City Palace complex, which today houses several museum collections of textiles and art.

⇒ AMBER FORT
Amber Fort – The Most Precious Gem of Jaipur

When we talk about the Jaipur then it is not possible that we could ignore the Amer fort. It is most beautiful fort and the pride of Jaipur. Amer fort is also spelled, known and pronounced as Amber Fort. It is located in Amer, 11 k.m from Jaipur. It is one of the major tourist attractions, located high on hill.

The Amer Fort was built by ‘Raja Shri Maan Singh JI Saheb’ (Maan Singh I) (21 December 1550 – 6 July1614) in 16th century. Man Singh, one of the first war chiefs or the trusted general of the Emperor Akbar. Akbar included him among the ‘Navaratnas’, or the 9 gems (Navaratnas) of the royal court. Man Singh began the construction of a fortress-palace of white and red sandstone i.e. Amer Fort in 1592 in 16th century. Nearby he ordered to set a small temple devoted to ‘Sheela Mata’, his patron goddess.

⇒ JAIPUR – THE PINK CITY –
Jaipur – The Pink City has been the capital oferstwhile Jaipur state since its inception in 1727 AD. It gets the name from its Founder Prince Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. In 1876 AD Jaipur dressed itself in pink to welcome Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria and earned the epitaph “PINK CITY”.

Situated in the heart of the old city. The City Palace was built between 1729 and 1732 AD by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

⇒ HAWA MAHAL
The most recognized monument of Jaipur built in 1799, by Maharaja Sawai Partap Singh. The 5 – storied stunning semi octagonal monument having 365 windows with over hanging latticed balconies.

⇒ JAIGARH FORT
Jaigarh fort is known as the fort of victory and is the most spectacular of the three-hilltop forts that overlook Jaipur city. It was built between the 15th and the 18th century AD.

⇒ NAHARGARH (Tiger) FORT
Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734, this fort was originally named Sudarshangarh Fort. Later, it was given a new name, Nahargarh which means ‘abode of tigers’. Located in one of the oldest mountain ranges of the world, the Aravalli Hills, this fort gives you a breath-taking view of the scenic surroundings.

⇒ ALBERT HALL (Central Museum)
The Albert Hall Museum also known as Central Museum is located in the Ram Niwas Garden. Ram Niwas Garden is located outside the city wall which is located opposite to the New Gate in Jaipur. Albert Hall is the oldest museum in Jaipur. Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II was responsible for the construction of this museum in the year 1868, when King Edward the Prince of Wales visited India. Maharaja Ram Singh wanted that this building should be a town hall, but his successor wants that this should be museum, which should be known for the art of Jaipur. Albert hall consist of Indo saracenic type of architecture and is designed same as the Victoria and Albert museum which is located in London. The building and the assortment beholds the beauty of the sight along with the pillars. The courtyards and the arches of the museum are worth seeing.
